Trauma & PTSD

Trauma is defined as an uncontrollable and terrifying life event. It can happen in a split second, or over a much longer period of time. For example, you might be crossing the road, when a car comes around the corner at high speed and narrowly misses you. In that instant, you have genuinely feared for your life. We can also be traumatised by stories and news events that we witness or hear from others.

Trauma can also result from everyday experiences such as divorce, bereavement or violence. Equally, a child may experience trauma by suffering from neglect over a sustained period. As human beings we need three basic components for our survival, to be safe, to be loved and to be seen or heard. If any of these components are missing in our lives, we are more likely to experience trauma, especially if we do not have social support.

A good example of trauma happening over a longer period would be the experiences of combatants who continuously risk their lives in battle, and who see their comrades fall in front of their eyes. By having to stay continually alert, and go onto the next situation, it eventually takes its toll as the traumatic experiences are “locked in”.

I can help you release yourself from the seriously debilitating effects of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder by helping you to tell your brain that what happened is all in the past, you are removed from whatever danger originally impacted upon you and that you are safe and well.

Master Sergeant (E8) Mario Cirinise describes how he is getting over Combat Trauma using an Energy Psychology technique called TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) following a ten-day workshop for combat veterans and active servicemen and their families in Columbus, Georgia, USA, in 2008. “I am a retired Special Forces, and Army Ranger Sniper soldier, who has seen combat in several locations around the world.
I have known for years that I looked at the world differently after coming back from combat. I did not know how to deal with the nightmares, flashbacks etc. Using Tapas Acupressure Technique, I have changed from being an emotionally cut off soldier, father and husband. I finally have my life back and can become the father, son and husband that I once was.”
